Members' Corner: Miriam Berger

My husband, Stan, and I have been members of the New Horizons Club for twelve years. We have taken advantage of Club benefits for that entire time.

The Club has made it possible for us to travel with a wonderful group of people. We’ve been on two Caribbean cruises. NHC has made it possible for us to visit California’s wine country, including a trip on the Wine Train. The Tall Ships in Boston and the Mystic Seaport area in Connecticut were enjoyable three day/two night trips made available to us by the Club. Being able to see the musical "Wicked" in Boston was another special opportunity. The Lobstah, Lobstah trip to coastal Maine was perfect. However, we’re sure our waistlines paid the price for that jaunt! The annual Mystery Trip to “who knows where” found us waiting in the bank lobby by 8:30 AM just to assure us of seats on the bus. A joy of traveling with NHC is the ease of doing so. Leaving from the Center parking lot at Route 7 South, boarding a chartered coach, and returning to the same parking lot following the trip made all trips virtually stress-free.

As relative newcomers to Middlebury, we’ve found that we’ve made many good friends through the Club and its activities.

On a strictly local level, we take full advantage of the NHC discounts available to us by local merchants. It means that we can help the local economy and still save money.

Membership in the NHC has become an important part of our lives here in Middlebury.

How serene is this picture? Just painting it will be relaxing never mind looking at the finished product. Don't miss out — space is limited for this class. Find out more...

Ticket to Ride Program

We’re making your account even better. You’re going to love it! It’s pretty simple — here’s how it works...New Horizons Club has created a new lapel pin. When you wear your pin to any NHC activity, you’ll receive a Ticket to Ride card. When you’ve collected 5 cards you can redeem them for a $5 Club Bucks certificate that you can use for any Club event. Use your Club Bucks to pay for NHC activities! You must wear your pin to receive a Ticket to Ride card. To keep it interesting, on unannounced occasions, you may receive more than one card at an event!

How can you get one of the lapel pins? Simple. Stop into any National Bank of Middlebury office and ask for the NHC lapel pin: Visit one of Middlebury’s two offices or the drive-up on Seymour Street, Vergennes, Bristol, Hinesburg or Brandon. Pins are for NHC members only and a second signer on the account. Though we welcome guests (non-members) to our events and activities, they will not receive Ticket to Ride cards. Lost or misplaced cards will not be replaced. NHC pins may be replaced. You must visit a NBM office to receive a pin — we will not be mailing pins.

When a new NHC account is opened, new members will be given one of our distinctive lapel pins.

Ticket to Ride card has no cash value and Club Bucks may only be redeemed for NHC activities.
